Our communiuty has many great ways to get involoved and to experience arts and culture. Here we have listed the organizations that make our town.
Stinson Prairie Arts Council
The Stinson Prairie Arts Council (SPAC) began more than 20 years ago under the guidance of the Iowa Arts Council. SPAC is a volunteer organization promoting the Fine Arts in Kossuth County. The Haggard-Twogood Charitable Trust was established to benefit Kossuth County and to encourage the presentation of performing arts and visual arts that would not otherwise be available in the area. Assisting the Stinson Prairie Arts Council is just one of a number of ways the Trust is endeavoring to carry out the purpose of grantors of the Trust.”

Algona Cornbelt Chorus
The Algona Cornbelt Chorus is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPBESQSA). Located in the Central States District, the chorus has been small chorus champions for 8 years before moving from A division to AA division. The chorus took eighth place in 2003 competing against AA and AAA choruses. Winners of second place at the Buckeye invitational in 2002 and a third place finish at the Buckeye invitational in 2000, missing the gold by a mere 8 points. The chorus was also the opening act for the legendary Temptations at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA a few years ago.
The chorus is made up of 44 members within a 40 mile radius of Algona. The chorus is directed by Luke Miller. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Methodist Church, 201 E Nebraska, in Algona, IA in the Wesley room. Any gentleman with the talent and desire to sing harmony is invited to practice.
The Cornbelt chorus presents both a spring and winter show each year and participates in fall district contest. The chorus also has a Valentines Day fundraiser. A quartet dressed in tuxedos will sing a song or two for the sender’s sweetheart, present them with a rose and a Valentines Day card from the sender. The chorus is available to perform at shows, events and special meetings in Algona and the surrounding communities.

Countryside Community Playhouse
The Countryside Community Playhouse was founded in 1965, the objective of this theatre corporation shall be to stimulate the production of good plays and play readings, to provide dramatic training for those individuals in the community interested in the theatre arts and promote good fellowship among its members.

Kossuth County Concert Association
As it has for the past forty years, The Kossuth County Concert Association continues to provide area residents with the opportunity to experience world-class concert artists in the comfort and convenience of the local community. Each season, beginning in September, members may attend four concert events in Algona, Iowa, as well as twelve – fifteen additional unique programs in the reciprocating communities of Spencer, Clear Lake, and Forest City, Iowa. The Kossuth County Concert Association Board of Directors partners with Allied Concert Services of Minneapolis, Minnesota, to enlist a wide variety of outstanding concert artists each year. The Haggard-Twogood Charitable Trust is also an integral financial partner to ensure the continued tradition of superior artists for the series.

The Membership Drive is traditionally conducted in the spring of the year. During this time, members may renew their ticket package for the upcoming season and new members are welcomed.
Those who have recently moved to the area or who have not been contacted to become a Concert Association member are invited to contact a membership chairperson at any time during the year to arrange for a membership package.
