“Revelations of Mann”

February 22, 2006

O.B. Laing Middle School Auditorium

Sponsored by Algona Community School District

Meet a yearbook full of characters in David Mann's

hilarious recollections of his first years teaching theater at a

Minnesota Catholic high school. Revelations is David's most

popular, enduring show, appealing to audiences who are

still in high school or to those who graduated long ago.

"David is not only a funny and original storyteller but an actor who is daring and

willing to take enormous risks," said Ron Peluso, History Theatre Artistic

Director. "Revelations of Mann is not just a hilarious comedy, but a wonderful

coming of age story about a young actor/teacher who comes to terms with

career, life, and faith."

Revelations of Mann premiered in 2003 at St. Paul's Great American History

Theatre.

“The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams

June 16-17, 2006

O.B. Laing Middle School Auditorium

Sponsored by AHS Alumni Theatre Group

The AHS Alumni Theatre Group was established in 2006 with the assistance of The

Haggard-Twogood Charitable Trust. The debut production for the Group was the classic

play, The Glass Menagerie, by Tennesee Williams. Directed by Algona High School

alumna, Mackenzie Webb, the cast also featured three recent alumni including Tucker

Schneider, Nikki King, and Ryan Penning. In addition to the alumni members of the

production was Jessica Laaveg, current English teacher and speech/drama coach at

Algona High School. The Group was established primarily to showcase talent from

members of the Algona community who have studied theatre at the college level. It is

important for Algona and the surrounding community to develop a greater appreciation

for the arts. The Group was excited to help instill that appreciation by creating an

opportunity locally.

On June 16-17, 2006, The AHS Alumni Theatre Group presented its production

of The Glass Menagerie. Because of the contribution The Haggard-Twogood Charitable

Trust provided, no money was charged upfront, but donations were accepted for any

future artistic endeavors of the Group. Set in a small apartment in St. Louis, The Glass

Menagerie depicts the tale of a family as fragile as glass, struggling to overcome the

hardships of life. Poignant and moving, this play has remained a classic through the

decades and has been performed and studied throughout the world. Ordinarily the high

school drama department and the community theatre might not tackle a play such as this,

but The AHS Alumni Theatre Group is honored to have been able to give back something

unique and heartfelt to the community.
